"Electric Dreams" book by David Buckley - release date?

Postby jaymze » Thu Nov 03, 2011 2:11 pm

Just a query about the release of this book.

I put an order for it on play.com early last month and it still says that it is waiting for it to come into stock.

Does anyone know whats happening with it?
Was it not to be released on the 30th anniversary of Dare?

Hi there

I had an email conversation with the publisher (Aurum Press) this week; I did an interview with David Buckley a little while ago, and was going to write it up for a well-known music site, but apparently the book has now been delayed until September 2012. Bummer.

That is bad news, I was looking forward to the book coming out, it would be cool to get a depthy look at the history of the band.

Yep and the PDF says "Competitions and giveaways for fan clubs and sites of all the bands featured in the book"

Which fan club or site will that be then :-)

So looking forward to this book when it comes out.
I have just finished his book on Kraftwerk, found it very interesting.
David Buckly interviewed Wolfgang Flur over 2 day's (must be a record) for the book. He also spent some time with Karl Bartos.
On the "Computer World Tour" on page 176 i found the following Quote chilling:
On the other side of the performers(Kraftwerk) is the sound engineer(we call him our dB man) joachim Dehmann.
Surly not a reference to a future H.L member?

Sounds brilliant. I'm sure it'll be well worth the wait. Most excited about the Ian Craig Marsh interview. Thought he'd dropped off the face of the earth.

Did Oakey & co decline new interviews for it?

Can't believe you managed to get Marsh & Wright. They seem to give the impression that they want to have nothing to do with The League or music in general. Always thought it was a shame that Adrian never fulfilled his ambition to be involved in movies.

Can't wait to read what they have to say.

Hello - Ian Marsh has given me some excellent interviews. I had a meeting with the band in 2011. Joanne was up for it, but Phil changed his mind so, I'm writing the book without their active participation which is such a shame. However, I had interviewed Phil twice before and also Susan. The Heaven 17 camp is fully behind the book. And it was hysterical interviewing Martin Rushent. The book will be 125,000 words long and will contain some previously unseen photographic material.
Cheers
David
