Should THL Mk.I do a tour **POLL**

So here's a bit of fun for you. Be careful how you vote - I've done it so you can't change your mind! :p

As much as it kills me to say it - No!

Just can't let Martyn Ware back into the fold. It'd be like a fox in the hen house. He'd do damage for sure.

Now....if the question was 'Should The Current Line Up Do A Repro/Travel tour then the answer would be - YES!!!

Yes they should =D But the present HL line up should get 1% of profits with Jo & Sue getting the same as Phil earns by doing nothing :cool: That way everyone will get paid & be happy. The recent Anthology Tour was the best GH tour i have Never/Ever seen (slight joke there, snakebite) So if Philip want's to do it id support it ! If only to hear Reproduction/Travelogue live.

Reasons Philip won't do a Mk.1 tour: 1) can't get the original line up, 2) it would damage THL's reputation with the GH crowd (where the money is), 3) the Mk.1 don't have a repertoire of hits to play, 4) he doesn't have to.

The may be other good reasons of course.

For me it's something for Philip and Martyn to figure out. But really it's not a true MK1 tour unless Ian and Adrian involved. For those reasons it's a waste of breath.

What we should remember is that the current line up of Phil/Jo & Sue have already done a Repro/Travel tour back in 1980 (with the help of Adrian) so it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

I'd almost certainly go to see it, though I don't think it would ever happen. Moreover, I'm not really sure what the purpose of it would be. Outside of a hard core of fans of the early incarnation, I wouldn't imagine there being much interest from the casual fans who form the bulk of the band's current audience. Can you imagine a boatload of drunk secretaries turning up expecting DYWM and getting WXJL Tonight instead? They'd probably need to bring back the cages to protect their equipment from missiles.

1) you're probably right on this one;
2) nonsense - you'd probably only go to a Mk.I gig if you were a Mk.I fan. In my fantasy plan it would obviously be advertised as such;
3) even bigger nonsense - should bands only play live if they have a repertoire of hits? On that basis a) Mk.I should never have played any live shows when they were still Mk.I; and b) that would rule out about 99% of bands from ever playing live if they were required to have a string of hits behind them;
4) of course he doesn't. He quite possibly doesn't have to tour at all - I'd have thought the royalties from DYWM alone see to that. But that's not the point, is it. At the risk of repeating myself - again - read the first line in my first post! [looks for banging head against a brick wall emoticon.]

I thought about that T, but decided not to because then it wouldn't be a Mk.I tour, would it? ;)

A few years ago I would have made an emphatic “Yes absolutely” vote but now I think I agree with Philip, it is disrespectful to the vocalists who have been together for nearly four decades. I’d have no objection to the current band incorporating more MK.1 tracks into the live repertoire. Some like I Don’t Depend On You could easily be adapted to the current band but maybe Philip doesn’t rate the song that much. It was nice to see some different songs appearing this time round, although personally STAG, FUWH and SWMT are three of my least favourite HL singles.
After the visual splendour of this tour, having Adrian back with his slides would be quaint bordering on madness!

My guess is that Adrian wouldn't want to come back anyway, visuals or no visuals. And yes visuals have moved on.
Also to be considered is the fact that not many remember the old mk1, so reunions would be pointless.
Finally I did hear something about past and present members being contacted by fans regarding Dare team reunion and a producer willing to help. But I think that's wrong. It's Philip's band- and the girls too and so it's for them to decide who they want in or out. Also the lawsuits over the years is another reason why we should stay out. It's up to Phil/girls and past members to reach out to each other.

I Suggest being fair to everyone… This is a tour I would like to see. Depending on which song during which period would bring those members on stage. Instead of ending with something like Don’t You Want Me or Let Me Go… A Megamix with all members on stage highlighting there solo’s, efforts, contributions, etc….

LOL Kevin. I suspect it would be easier to get Abba back on tour than it would be to put something like that together! :lol:

Suggestions:

1. Don't do a full tour, just a few dates in key cities.
2. Don't call them THL gigs, call them The Future/The Men shows.
3. Play small venues with capicity of 300 to 500 (the type of shows H17 can't fill). =D
4. Do it old school with slides, synths & reel to reels.
5. Charge us through the nose for the privilege.
6. No Martyn Ware involved. Ian and Adrian are welcome.
7. Susan & Joanne are a must.

Simples.

When I win the lottery we WILL have a Repro/Travel gig. I'll make Mr O an offer he can't refuse!

I personally don't have much interest in Mk. I. I like the albums but am much more of a fan of the current lineup or the Dare lineup. That said, I know it would make some people happy so I think if the band were inclined to do it, I would possibly support it if I could, just because it would be something different. But I also like Kevin's idea of a concert incorporating lots of different players and materials from the different eras - it would probably just be a one-off show but could be very cool (maybe make a DVD of it too).
