Postby Electromaniac » Fri Sep 15, 2017 7:49 am

Amazon is showing a Live Vinyl with a DVD to be released in November:

I want it...now!

There's nothing like this on the UK Amazon website.

Looks modern! (Errol still on drums!)
Still can't believe there's been no official LIVE concert DVD since 2003!
Maybe, just maybe, they'll film a show down under!

The front cover photo and a google search confirms that this is the Brighton Dome gig from 2003. Surely two records are required to press the full show's audio onto wax in decent quality? This appears to be only one.

The Issuer/label (Dreamcatcher) has a page on Discog - this page has a dreamcatcher website link which takes you to....
the Secret Records website which, surprise surprise handled the 2003 dvd package!

Methinks like Knowlesy, its a re-release of the 2003 Brighton recording just put onto vinyl.

Thanks for the info Murfy and it's good to have you back on the forum. Yes it looks like they are cashing-in on the vinyl revival. At present the best thing I can say about this release is that Tabatha Fireman's excellent photos should look stunning in this format. From memory there is nothing the band or Simon can do about this being released. Would just love to have a proper and official release of another live recording from 95 onwards.

I seem to remember Susan saying that they didn't get paid for the filming of the Brighton gig. That may be why they're reluctant to get involved with an official DVD release again.

Here's a link with updated info about this release - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Greatest-Hits- ... man+league

It will be a one disc vinyl with 10 songs from the setlist. Predictably these are the best known songs and in a different sequence from their original setlist order. I'd be surprised if the dvd that's included will be in the PAL format. Most of us here will have the original dvd release, which is in PAL, anyway.

It's available on most Amazon country regions now, but a few list it as vinyl, even though it does in fact have the vinyl and DVD still included. I cant remember what happened to my original release of the dome, so if this is a repackaged version I will probably get it.

If you're just after the DVD, you'll be able to get that way cheaper on its own. The vinyl looks like (and if the sole credible Amazon review is an indication, very much is) a cheap cash in to capitalise on the current vogue for vinyl records.

It's a shame the way Virgin and Secret Records continue to cash in on the League's back catalogue, at least with the live performances we get new and extended versions of the League's best songs. :p
