...in this French-Canadian film "1981." After OMD's "Enola Gay," suddenly there was "Hard Times"! (The film is about a boy's coming-of-age, sort of.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1981_%28film%29

"Don't You Want Me" in Waxy O'Connors Irish Pub, Glasgow on Monday Night (St Patrick's Day) 17th March.

Was surprised to hear this tune blasted out among a mix of contemporary rock and upbeat traditional Irish songs. The whole pub were singing along with the chorus, though the girl next to me (a 22 year old from Cork) said she had never heard this song in her life!

Yesterdays edition of the Metro, free newspaper I was reading on the train to work. Nice 1/4 page advertisement of the upcoming UK tour, full picture of the band from their most recent photo session. Nice surprise on a Friday morning!

Just before the 7.00am news Anneka Rice managed to sneak in '(Together In) Electric Dreams' by Oakey/Moroder but didn't have time to say the track details. Still very good surprise to hear it on her show, don't think she has played it before.

Another good natured show this morning including helping one listener with suggestions for naming of hens... we are talking things like Gregory Peck, Russell Crow and Yoko Ono here. On her way to her studio she stopped in on Richard Allenson ten mins before the end of his program, delighted at the new coffee machine and saying that she is now, in addition to Facebook,on Twitter.

I was on holiday in Ibiza last week, one morning I was sitting out in San Antonio bay, nursing a Cappuccino (and a sore head!) when I heard DYWE on the restaurant radio. A nice surprise!

Singer in the pub on Saturday night covered Don't You Want Me as part of her eighties set. Quite good as well and went down well with all the fortysomethings.

Always a nice surprise when a song that gets less airplay than others gets played. However was surprised when Matthew Rudd on last night 'Forgotten 80s' described the song "Louise" as gorgeous.

(Was also good to hear "See You" by Depeche Mode but I'm sure that is not as rare, I think a few weeks ago Anneka's Saturday Radio 2 Breakfast show played it.)

Yes you are correct if you miss it on Sundays (7.00pm - 9.00pm) it is repeated on Thursday evenings (9.00pm - 11.00pm).

For me definitely essential listening mainly for the impressive research information that Matthew comes up with for the songs played particularly the two 'nobody's diary' offerings. I guess it is that which enthuses me to sit through some pretty awful songs just to hear what he has to say.

DYWM is in the new film walking on sunshine
Seems like a copy of mama mia.
Cringing rendition was on Sunday brunch this morning. It reminded me of how bad Piers Bronsnan was in mamma mia.
