Smash Hits archive

Postby MemberD » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:11 am

Sorry for being a bit slow in posting this but a very nice chap who goes by the name of Brian Damage is posting all issues of Smash Hits dating from 1978 onwards, week by week on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/51106326@N00/collections/72157622124067234/

(via his blog) http://likepunkneverhappened.blogspot.com/

Some 1980 issues have some interesting Human League bits, as well as many other favourites such as Numan, Ultravox, Foxx etc.

I've been trying to tag all the THL features / pics / lyrics so here's the tag list:

http://www.flickr.com/search/?ss=2&w=51106326%40N00&q=Human+League&m=text

PS call me an old saddo , but for those who avidly bought and read Smash Hits back in those days this archive is a godsend!!

Falling sales and the explosion of the internet and digital music services on TV. Smash Hits is now a music channel in UK and probably has a website doing exactly what the printed magazine did.

I see "Phil Oakley" was being used as far back as 1979... ;)

Oh dear! . it waswritten by one Martyn Ware, although I expectthat was a typo in the picture caption (unless he did it on purpose!) ..

Yes, kudos to Brian who also spends a lot of time and money seeking out missing issues...

I've tagged all Human League features/mentions throughout the archive in order to make them easier to find.

Click this link and then individual pages.
