The eBay Thread

Postby Danny C » Mon Aug 20, 2007 8:50 pm

I figured a new thread for all those cool (and not so cool) League-related eBay auctions you come across would be a good idea.

Here we can flag up stuff we think might be of interest to other people, and highlight the horrific - and horrifically over-priced - crap that seems to make up about 90% of stuff up for auction.

Incidentally, I used to think it was a bad thing to flag up auctions for rare stuff, because really the buyer should do the hard work finding them, but I changed my mind on that one. Now I say if we can help each other, then why not?

Which is just as well because I found a pretty decent one. It's that Respect album "The Kissing Game" for less than 20 bucks on Buy It Now.

You might well remember Respect did that cracking song with Philip, "What Comes After Goodbye". It's pretty rare to find that as a single, but it's even rarer to find the album. The interesting thing about this is that the mix of WCAGB is unique to this album. I'd be buying a copy at this price if I didn't already have one (and no, it's not my auction, or someone I know ;)). So, er, first come, first served!

Anyone looking for that TTDAMO 7" would be well advised to look here - although the auction ends in about 7 hours.

Something I know only I would notice, but important to point out: Susan has signed it 'Susanne', rare indeed ;)

Its also a good indicator of authenticity if you are buying 'genuine' THL signed stuff from 1982-1985.

Forgers will generally copy her 'Suzan' (sic) signature from 1986+, unfortunately Phil and Joanne's sigs have barely changed in 20 years and are harder to spot fakes.

I should be on the antiques roads show me

I've put this book up, only a few hours left. I've seen it go for a lot more than the 12 quid it is now...

I've now got a cassette copy of Fascination from Townhouse Studio Tape Copying department. I bought it way back when from a dealer in record collector called Greg Van Dyke. I think he was based in Plymouth.
Can anyone shed any light on what the tape copies may have been used for?

Sorry to seem to be spamming your boards, I thought being League fans, you might want a heads up.

It's sad selling me vinyl, but need to create some space! I won't sell it all...

You're not spamming. If you were you wouldn't still be able to post. ;)

I spotted this on Ebay today whilst searching for something else, so grabbed it for 5 pounds. I'm hoping this is the full version of the Do or Die dub also available on the Methods of Dance compilation, except here on CD. Does anyone else have this? Here's the Discogs listing:

I have it. I believe it's the dub version from the League Unlimited Orchestra LP. My old discography says it should come in at 4:36, while the Methods of Dance special edit runs longer at 6:26.

Ahhhh not what I hoped. Thanks Danny. Quite happy with my digitised recording from the Methods of Dance album, but would have liked a "clean" digital copy.
