Is it me or is this a new low?
Even lower than a back to the 80's gig on the land, this one will be at sea.

Sounds of a barrel being scraped?

Guess it must pay good money, but is it Phil, Joanne and Susan in PA mode or a full band show?

It's more than a bit crap alright but those bills have got to be paid somehow. :O

I don't think I could even watch this type of a show. If it's hard for us to understand I can only imagine how they must feel having to perform to the type of crowd that go to these shows. Beats Butlins...... I suppose.

It's not a "low" at all. There are plenty of rock cruises going on, with big name bands playing. It seems to be a newish "thing".

Giggling is their bread and butter, and the most enjoyable part of being a pop star by many accounts Im sure they'll have a blast!

*edit - if they're actually even doing it? They've not announced it have they?

But P even THL are on record saying they hate playing retro shows.

I'm quite sure they enjoy playing their own gigs on their own tours but playing alongside the likes of Sonia etc? No. No no no.

But hey, how many of us go to work and just have to 'get through' the day? I'm sure it's the same for THL on these tours. Get through it and use the money to keep the band going. Means to an end.

The people who go to these shows are the people who are now helping the League to sell out shows on their own tours, and I'd imagine, boosting record sales. I don't see the harm.

You just don't see 80's artists like Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, New Order, Erasure (yes I know Andy Bell is doing it - still NOT Erasure), Alison Moyet or even Gary Numan do these types of tours. These are the equivalent of Poundland tours. I really do believe that these shows are beneath a band like THL with the back catalogue that they have. Fine for the likes of Sonia, Limahl, Heaven 17 & Living In A Box etc but not THL.

That's not being snobby by the way. I do like a good bargain ( =D ) but THL are far and away superior to most bands that do these tours. But needs must. I'd never go to a retro festival, even if THL were playing. Dressing up in wigs, neon clothing and blow up hammers is my idea of hell.

As Phil said (with utter contempt in his voice) at the end of the Young Guns (was it?) documentary:

'If you want the 80's, we'll give you the 80's' :O
