Great show! Philip seemed quite chuffed with the crowd (almost full). They played the same Theatre in 1982 but he didn't remember... Behind the Mask was good and went over quite well. In fact a few of the songs that mainstream "Dare" era fans might not have known all got a great response  i never realised there was so much love for THL in my home town! I will upload something to YouTube in a few days but for now, it's onto Melbourne for the next (very hot) show! 36C! :O

One word...

Deafening.

We were in front of the monitor that was facing outwards fom the stage. Bloody hell my ears are still ringing....

They were in top form though. Audience loved them!

Special thanks to Karen for sorting the ticket and the driving! :)

I'm not 'getting' old, Stig, I AM old.

Old and now deaf.

Pretty standard HL setlist apart from Behind the Mask. I don't remember the league doing this song live before, although I expect someone will tell me different. Actually, I don't remember this song being sold in any format either! Must have been before 1995 when I woke up.

Yeah c15 it's a pity Secret songs seem to be falling of the setlist.

It was only released in Japan on the YMO vs Human League CD I think. The other song on that CD was one of the Tell Me When B-sides.

Definitely the sort of thing that should have made it onto a "Human League Rarities" album... except we already had one of those, and it had decidedly common stuff like the album version of Being Boiled on it :/

Danny's right. Apparently they released it as they had a one song deal with the Japanese label which promptly went bust (that's what PO said in Adelaide when he introduced it as "a song by YMO and Michael Jackson".)

There are albums by YMO available from Amazon in various formats but I have yet to find one with Human League versus YMO tracks on it, though you can find them on YouTube. YMO have some excellent sounding instrument tracks out I'm investigating with a view getting some of the albums.

For me personally, I think ‘Behind The Mask’ is an awful song.

I just find it really sad that the brilliant ‘Secrets’ is criminally ignored.
At the very least ‘AIEW’ should be played. 50% to 60% of Dare is played at every gig yet they can’t play one track from Secrets???

I’m gonna start the ‘JUSTICE FOR SECRETS’ campaign!

I think it's okay - the THL/YMO version is certainly better than both the original, the Michael Jackson version and the Eric Clapton version.

Agree, loads of good tracks who needs to be heard live - did I mention 'Reflections' would be a good choice? But it's the same old story:

52 year old Mary from Bristol who in her youth used to dance to 80's pop suddenly got 4 kids and forgot all about dancing and gigging. A Facebook friend tell her that a band she used to love are touring and will be at a venue in a nearby town. She decides to force her AC/DC husbond and two of the older kids to relive her youth with them at a nearby venue - a nostalgic trip ... seated of course, where she will enjoy all the hits from back when life was simple ... and then... BANG "Night People -- Night Night People" hits her face, and she looks at her half-a-sleep husbond and two baffled kids. Everything since 'Octopus' (was tempted to write 'Romantic') will mean nothing to +90% of the audience - so who do you cater?

But eitherway, I will continue to beg for the following, and in this order:
1. Reflections, 2. WXJL Tonight 3. Privilege 4. Black Hit Of Space 5. Almost Medieval 6. Cruel Young Love 7. The World Tonight

TBH I never get tired of hearing tracks from Dare, it's the rest of the usual suspects that needs rotating ;)

16 songs? Come on. That’s waaaay too short!

Most bands do between 19 and 22. They could easily add 3 to 4 songs to that list. Phil once said ‘we’re our own tribute band now’ but unfortunately that really has come true. It’s all becoming a bit corporate now.

They are still the loveliest people in the world but they are lazy beyond belief.

In fairness, they're pretty old now. Stamina ain't what it used to be.

They are quite lazy, but that's when they're not touring (and not writing new material either) ;)
