Fab gig tonight. Alison was totally wasted on brandy but delivered an awesome performance. Oh, and Andy Bell and Pauline. Enough said!

Hot dog! Just got back from the two gigs in London. Faaaanntasstiiiiic :) Couldn't ask for more. The songs sounded absolutely brilliant and it looked like they both enjoyed themselves. High point for me would be Too Pieces, especially after Moyet leaves the stage and Vince let the machines do the work. That bass goes right in the testicles! Walk Away From Love stood out as well and I Before I E... sounded amazing, even if I could do without the drum'n'bass beat. And the concert really showed what set Yazoo apart from most other bands, not many electronic acts have access to such an amazing voice!

No disrespect to Andy Bell, but it was nice to see Vince without the silly camp of Erasure, which for me takes the attention away from the music and it's difficult to take them serious. He looked cool in a black suit instead of being dressed up as a Geisha girl or a cow's ass! (well, KraftwerkDave has that suit now!) Also pleseantly suprised about the amount of work he did on stage. Last time I saw him live was back in 1997, where he sat on a chair and smoked fags, drank beer during and played the occational acoustic guitar, but this time round he was quite active on his little keyboard.

This re-union has really rekindled my interest in Vince Clarke. I've sort of lost interest in him as the last ten years of Erasure has been drab, he seems to have lost a bit of his creative spark and he looked to be too much in control in a live situation to really enjoy playing on his keyboard. But the way he's arranged the Yazoo back cataloge for the tour and looked like he actually enjoyed being on stage and actively play some of the music bits has reaffirmed my belief in him. Hopefully this re-union and him digging deep into the Yazoo back catalogue can inspire him in his future work, I for one will be looking forward to it.

Same for me, it sort of rekindled my interest in Vince's stuff as have overloooked Erasures' last few albums - I think last one bought was Chorus (which is going back a bit!).

Panzer hit's the nail on the head when he mentions Alison's vocals, there are so many electro-based acts around that although musically good, just don't cut it vocally. Here's hoping for some new Yazoo material, but whether they're will be time as VC is obviously committed to Erasure...

That explains you giving me a subtle LOOK THIS WAY glance as I left then. Fraid I missed him completely but thought there was some king of "hanging out" about to happen.

Those who want to relive the gig or see it for the first time, this guy on youtube seems to pretty much have the lot. Recorded in Berlin, not bad quality considering.

It amazes me that people will buy a ticket for a gig and then spend the whole night video-ing it. Sure it's great to see the clips afterwards, but it would seriously spoil a lot of the enjoyment factor staring through a viewfinder the whole night....unless said person had tickets for several shows :)

Even going to 7 of them I had no desire to watch any of them through the viewfinder, despite the Bristol farce!

Apparently the Yanks are treated to a different version of I Before E...!!! Crappy recording, but does sound different even if I'm having trouble with the sound here at work.

Sounds like the NYC ones were filmed, so there might be a DVD after all.

I wouldn't mind another Yazoo gig this weekend. Still buzzing from the London ones.

Actually I've just seen that AM's thoughts are also contained here in her main site. Nevertheless I'll leave it on here too just in case their site ever has a bandwidth problem or whatever requiring it to be removed, unless Steve Coats objects, in which case I'll remove it from here.

Here is the 12" version of Situation, from the NYC show, but which is the version they only played in Manchester in the UK dates. This is from Manchester (but not as good quality). Such a privilege to have been there, can't believe it's over a year ago now...
