They've apparently been writing songs with the drummer from Kaiser Chiefs. That was Mark Ronson's idea. Er, thanks, Mark.

How big is the Roundhouse? I've never been as it had only just reopened when I left London. I'm guessing it's not huge, though. I saw Duran at the Palais Formerly Known As Hammersmith Palais a few years back, and it was great seeing them so close up after only ever seeing them in arenas previously...

It's not huge at all :D I saw them at the reformation gig at The Forum which is the smallest venue i thought i'd ever see them in. Hopefully it won't be !!

Hey P. Duran Duran last night....how was it? Spill. Set list. What worked and what didn't? Did you faint when they came on etc etc? 5 days to the Dublin gig. Getting very excited. There are six of us going so it should be a great night.

It was a brilliant gig! Personally I'd prefer they played earlier stuff too though rather than just new and hits but then I guess I feel that way about most bands I see these days ;) But it is a REALLY good show!
Nick Rhodes gave THL a mention and admitted that Phils hair was better than his:D

Thanks ED. The 5 people I'm going with are only 'hits' fans so for their sake I hope there isn't too much off ALL You Need Is Now.

Brilliant gigs CS15  Quite a few from AYNIN, but plenty of hits too. They are sounding and looking FANTASTIC!! Best band in the world :D

The wild boys stormed Dublin's O2 last night!

It was so good that I'd put it on a par with their Manchester gig in 05 and that was the best Duran gig I had previously attended. The setlist was outstanding and understandably the biggest hits got the best reaction from the 3/4 ish full crowd. The sound was sharp, powerful and luscious. The best I've ever heard in an arena venue. Highlights for me were Planet Earth with a stunning extended intro, TMWSAL (absolutely brilliant), CM, AYNIN, Notorious with a funky band intro section and a glorious GOF. The crowd went mad for The Reflex, Wild Boys and Rio.

Simon immediately endeared himself to the audience by saying hello Dublin in Irish (Gaelic), Nick gave an unusually long and witty speech before BTM which surprised Simon (in a good way), John said some very complimenary words too and got the loudest screams as usual.

The visuals were sensational and the use of projections in the 4 large, face-shaped masks at the top of the lighting rig was highly original. There was lights on hydraulic trussing on either side of the stage. Nothing less than the top quality you always get with a Duran show. The programme as usual is top class too. An Irish girl introduced Simon as part of the band intros and she was fantastic. There was live TV cameras projected on the screens throughout the show. The band was in top form and Simon's energetic performance was a delight. A fantastic show by a wonderful, charming band.

The Man Who Stole a Leopard is one of the greatest Duran songs ever. Absolutely wonderful :) Nice review Knowlsey :0 I saw them in Sheffield and Manchester. The Manc one was filmed and will feature on a DVD due out in May 2012. The girl in front of me got to introduce Simon !!

Thanks for the info and compliment Pauline :) Delighted to hear about the dvd release. I forgot to mention the super slick segue from Wild Boys into Frankie's Relax. That was fantastic and the crowd loved it! Simon once mentioned in an interview that he wished they wrote that song.

Instead of starting another Duran Duran thread elsewhere I'll hijack this one to let you know about a documentary that's on BBC 4 tonight at 9pm. Originally broadcast in 2000 when only Simon and Nick were left from the original line-up it's a decent summary of their career up to that point - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007bqdj

It's followed by an 80s TOTP special and be warned it features mullets, perms and spandex. And that's just the clip of Europe performing 'The Final Countdown'

Don't ED. For the DVD version they stripped out all of the 80's music (League/Kraftwerk/OMD/Siouxsie/SoftCell) and replaced it with Muzak rubbish. Ruins it. Apparently they only had the music rights for the UK and as the DVD was a worldwide release they had to pull the original music.
