I don't know if it's just me but is there a hint of late 80s Glenn Gregory about the guy on the right of this... http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/CAPITAL%20CITY/CC1-episodeone-26.jpg

This is part of a little 'on-going' project I'm gradually working on over the coming weeks http://www.tvgold.co.uk/capital-city-episodic-image-capture-memories-t673.html

Dave - I delete posts from obvious spammers, so I am adding this reply just so people know you weren't just talking to yourself. ;)

Oh dear God no...
What were Martyn and Glenn thinking?

Possibly one of the worse adverts I've ever seen....

I can't see them selling that many more records on the back of this...I would love to be proved wrong though.
Shame it wasn't as memorable as the recent Ikea advert.

As for doing it for the exposure, they've had decent amounts of that throughout the year already....

H17 have done so well this reminding everyone in the media just how good they were - this advert will pretty much put them back to where they were in the 90s....

I thought it was funny (as far as TV adverts go) and clearly written for Heaven 17. Personally, I was far more disappointed when THL "sold out" to The Daily Mail, but that's just because it offended my middle-class liberal values. Business is business though, and who am I to complain about where my favourite bands get their income from?

Was the League/Daily Mail thing a Dare giveaway? I can't quite remember but yes, that was pretty bad but probably more to do with EMI.

Business is business but the advert is embarrasing.

H17 getting yet more radio 6 exposure. Nemone is playing a track per day and was just talking about their devil's arse gig for ages. Granted was about the cave name, but still big promo

Yep, that was it. Prompted me to design a new cover for it:

With apologies, I'm almost over it now :P

Has anyone here noticed this coming out in a few weeks time???

Nice to see a couple of League tracks in the line up and the packaging looks fairly robust and appealing.

I quite like Songs of Quality and Distinction and Penthouse and Pavement, but it's a shame Heaven 17 never seemed to do well after their breakthrough years in the early eighties. They had the potential to be as good as you know who, well they were two thirds of the original band, but seemed to let things slip away and their releases after 1983 struggled. It was sadthat Glenn Gregory really worked hard to promote their later material by talking to almost every paper in the country, but to little avail.
Interesting fact, Jason Donovan admitted to being a fan in 1989.

Temptation was by far and away their best track, number 2 in 83 and again number 4 when re-released in 92. They had great potential but never quite realize it with an outstanding album, they were good but not great. I always thought that Glenn Gregory often looked and sounded too upper middle class to be street credible. Compare with Philip Oakey's brooding presence on stage.

Oh I don't know, GG looked some kind of Scandinavian love god and his voice certainly was powerful on Temptation, although Carole Kenyon certainly made the song work. However, Come Live With Me was droney and two comebacks in 1986 and 1988 achieved little. I'm sort of OK on Heaven 17, but like ABC, the potential went too early.

Scandinavian love god I didn't know there was such a deity, or are you talking about Stig?

Have to go with SubHuman's assessment of GG VS Phil. I may be the only person who doesn't like Temptation, but Whatever. I also feel GG is too slick to appeal to me. Not attracted to the voice or persona onstage. Phil, on the other hand, is totally appealing to me. I hadn't thought of him as brooding, but maybe he is. I do love his voice completely, and so much so, that if his genre was country music, I'd love that because I'd love anything he sings. I don't know why I love hearing his voice so much; I just do. I also admire his onstage persona; this forum is a lovely tribute to him and the band.

LOL, Mr Gregory does look rather Nordic, though. Also he has the same first name as me.
