For me, the classic Duran line-up was greater than the sum of their parts (er, no filth intended). I haven't heard one song by any of their side projects that I really wanted to own. I did buy a used copy of the Arcadia album really cheap once, and it just left me cold.

DD peaked with their first album, and then took a step down with each release.

Careless Memories is their best song, in my book.

I personally do not understand how anyone can think that the new remasters are a quality product sound wise. Sarah, I know you are a huge music fan so it seems odd that you didn't notice any difference. Maybe listening to the original then the remaster right after might help. It also helps when you use quality earphones.

Well not sure if the vinyl version's are different, but to my ears they sound ok, mind you my hearing isnt brilliant but there doesnt appear to be any drop outs especially at the start of Girls on Film, so maybe ditch the cd and get the vinyl!

Well considering that the 'Series 1' was released way back in the Summer of 2007 http://www.networkdvd.net/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=86 I would sadly have to say that it doesn't look too likely. However you never know what future plans DVD label Network have at present so my advice would be to occasionally have a look at their website.

Duran's cover of Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging" is on the way, along with covers by Mick Karn, A Place To Bury Strangers, and a bunch of other people I can't say I'm that interested in:

I love it. It's much better than the cover version of "Fame" they did many years ago.

I loved Arcadia and their album and singles 'So Red The Rose' has a great sound, I really hoped they would follow it up.
Their videos are some of my favourites too, the whole project was very chic and arty, not surprising really considering Nick Rhodes was at the helm.
The 12" remixes for 'Election Day' and 'The Flame' are excellent.

I wasn't keen on Powere House though, they did a couple of singles that I sort of liked but that was that.

Their debut album is brilliant, it still sounds great today, as does 'Rio'.
I disagree though, their albums did progress and a lot of their later work is much better than their early songs, much like The Human League, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Petshop Boys etc...
I like 'Medazzaland' and 'Pop Trash' a lot, and I think 'Astronaut' was a return to their sound of old....but 'Thankyou' no thankyou.

I think people can't forgive them for becoming megastars and mainstream but we can blame the girl fans of the 80s for that (and some boys) =)

Definitely, that was pretty bad. I quite like this, although hearing what they've done with vocals makes me really wish they'd done it in their early 80s style, as this song would really lend itself to that kind of treatment. I heard a few other songs from this tribute album the other day, and they're all pretty good if you don't mind 'alternative' takes on the songs (I certainly don't):

There is a brief sound clip of 'Being Followed', a single coming from the forthcoming "All You Need Is Now" album here... http://www.spinnermusic.co.uk/2010/11/10/duran-duran-videos-tour-new-album/1

I think it sounds pretty good! :)

Clips of the titletrack (which will be the first single, available on December 14th) and "Leave A Light On" can be heard on the official DD site: http://www.duranduran.com/wordpress/?page_id=14246

I like what I hear too! :)

I have to admit that after hearing a few of the new tracks from their forthcoming Mark Ronson produced album, I'm looking forward to hear the album - if it's a return to the pop/rock sound of their first album, I'm interested.

Duran are supposed to be remixing Personal Jesus for DM's forthcoming remix album. Sounds intriguing - didn't know they could twiddle the knobs.

a big "hmmmm" to that. I think it should be boiled down to a Nick Rhodes remix, as I guess he's the only one doing any twiddling.

Remember the "Big Ones" interview? Not that much love between Gahan and mr. Arrogant-Le-Bon.

Anyway, best damn DM interview EVER made - The Big Ones:

I downloaded it yesterday - a pretty solid track! I've been a Duran Duran fan even longer than I've been a League fan, but have grown to love the League slightly more, if only because they're more of the "underdog."
