Hard Corps

Postby JJ » Fri Sep 19, 2014 1:54 pm

Thought there was a thread on them, but couldn't find it. To cut a long story short through the medium of bullet points:
- Fabulous mid-80s band
- Once almost impossible to find album "Metal + Flesh" - produced by the most perfect combination of Martin Rushent and Daniel Miller
- Supported Depeche Mode on their Music For The Masses tour, creating a stir when the Belgian singer Reginne (a former "peep show" stripper, and who died a few years ago) went topless on stage during the earlier shows on the tour
- The 12" version of "Je Suis Passee" is just unbelievably brilliant - in my top 10 of all time.

The point of posting this is to say that there have been a few of their tracks added to iTunes that I hadn't heard before in my particular cave. In particular, tracks Desolation Land, Desire and Sacred Heart are all excellent.

That one time when Martin Rushent came down to Client's Being Boiled club night, not only did I get him to sign Dare, but also Metal + Flesh.

I still listen to them very regularly.

Have a look here http://www.last.fm/music/Hard+Corps and click on the Je Suis Passee video for a blast of greatness, courtesy of Martin Rushent.

Anyone else?

Crumbs JJ! As always you have impeccable taste in synth music. Bowled over by Hard Corps.

They completely passed me by for some reason. Heard the name but never heard any material before. Will check them out.

Yeah JJ also count me in for saying that they sound great. Bit of of Kraftwerk but also maybe also a bit of Depeche Mode, love the musical feel and am prepared to overlook the French... I never learnt that subject at school.

I suppose JJ that it's a complete coincidence that Reginne happens to be blonde?

Must pay more attention, it was one of the keyboard players who was blonde!

Although she is blonde singing Dirty on Youtube:-

There's a used copy of Metal & Flesh on Amazon for £191-00.

I'm not surprised at the cost. Like I said, very rare to get the vinyl.

perhaps perfect candidate for Cherry Red Records to put out a reissue CD release. I think they are really good at unearthing groups like this.

No real need as far as the songs being available, Sarah - they've put out the remastered version on itunes. Funnily enough the cd and vinyl versions of rhe album have slightly different track listings.

Quite impressed by Hard Corps I've downloaded four of the Metal & Flesh tracks from iTunes.

My top 4 Hard Corps tracks are:

1. Je Suis Passee - extended version [English]
2. Desolation Land
3. Porte Bonheur [French vocals - the English version being Lucky Charm]
4. Respirer [ditto as per 3]

But there are half a dozen more I could happily listen to on repeat, like Sacred Heart

I downloaded:-
1. Je Suis Passee
2. For Pleasure
3. Dirty
4. Desolation Land

from iTunes.

Be warned there is a metal rap band called The Hard Corps with a cd "Def Before Dishonor" available from Amazon.
