The most underrated record of the 1980s?

I bet it's HUMAN LEAGUE's Hysteria.

I've found a nice review on the matter.

I agree in what comes to The Sign being the "sleeper hit" but the album as a whole is quite strong.

Yup, like it too - but I guess the shift to a less clean-cut electronic album like Dare!, was a dissapointment to many fans and reviewers. In that light, it was weak compared to Dare! Some tracks are a bit dated, but overall I think it's a great album apart from 'Rock me again x 6", and I don't like "Don't you know I love you" as it tries to hard to be Hysteria's "Don't you want me".

There is no such track on the album, Stig. ;)

I quite like Hysteria, but I find it a bit sparse compared to Dare in places, almost as if it's missing something.

Probably due IMO (and forgive me for repeating myself) to the rather lifeless production values!

That "review" took me right back to the early 80's and the Roland and Korg manuals that they used to do....... a finer example of pidgeon english i've yet to see ;)

Sorry

I'd probably agree with you except it is forever guilty of preventing the rightful number one at that time - Ultravox - Vienna (nothing to do with Rigsby's cat )

Anything and everything by The Associates, Billy Mackenzie and Cabaret Voltaire - I am absolutely staggered that the latter do not get more recognition or get cited more often as having influenced other bands. AND they came from Sheffield. They don't even really exist in Google land , either.

Cabaret Voltaire are sadly forgotten in the history of electronic music, though their stuff is excellent - 'Sensoria' rocks like a bastard!

Ze Zermans Are Coming: Boytronic - YOU! Without a shadow of a doubt!! Gimme back the 80`s.. - take a look at that coolness!! Love it...the dance..which is infact the only dance I can still perform today...Somehow it worked better +20 years ago..Well the keyboarders..one on cheap amfetamin and the other hard as a rock..The music hits me as a fist in my head!!
