Yeah looks good and the contents (e.g. here... http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/6433525/Messages-Greatest-Hits/Product.html#) seem to cover all you could want. Hope it has good sleeve notes with it :)

I got the OMD cd/dvd today and I'm very pleased. I had not seen most of the videos and the audio/video quality was excellent. :)

Nice new Andy McCluskey interview over at Electronically Yours website:

http://www.league-online.com/

Quite funny as Andy goes on to slag off all the female-fronted electro band's (with the exception of Marsheaux) that EY have been "championing" over the last year.... :)

Hmmm I read that too and had a bit of a titter.

Bring back boy electro! The campaign starts here.

Well, thats how it works, isn't it? ;)

EY have championed some good stuff over the years, but I totally agree with Mr.Mc C, there are so many poor female fronted electro acts around at the moment, and he nailed it on the head when he mentions how flat and emotionless much of it is....

Forget pretty - just great songs will do me fine.

Yes exactly and people liking them just because they are "birds with synths" - I say "never mind the tits , show us your hits" . I personally find practically all of them with their monotone female so bloody annoying , its beyond belief that they have no self perception of thinking "feck me , no wonder Im still a pub singer looking like a girly version of Rowland Rivron and his mate at the end of French and Saunders , I better find a footballer to knock me up so I can spunk all his money down the drain on tasteless shit" (guesses required on how many people I could offend in one sentence there :D )

ps. as a footnote and my exception - anyone who remembers my previous points about La Roux will remember I didnt like her at first but blow me sideways , I really like the ginger spunky haired shouty minx now .... I am not developing any ginger fetish at all and Ive never (bit cut out to save the mods cutting out obscenities)

Off topic, but here's some photos of Alison Moyet in Poland last month:

Great interview! And a refreshingly honest assestment of the whole female fronted electro tidal wave. I guess since he's worked with female fronted groups he knows what he's talking about ;)

I never cared much for OMD apart from the early singles and the first album. He's gone up in my estimation however and is spot on about Little Boots and La Roux. I cannot forgive him for the Elizabeth Duke triplets though.

That OMD interview is just pure GOLD. I love it when people just call it how they see it :-)

Out of interest Ken (Tycho), are La Roux or Little Boots making any dents in the Australian charts? :)

They're definitely known but not in a huge way. As JJ has mentioned it really is a cultural backwater down here. Little Boots I think has a higher profile than La Roux, although the latter has been getting fairly regular airplay of clips in the wee hours on our main video clip show Rage http://www.abc.net.au/rage/ The whole TFEP phenomenon has largely bypassed the mainstream here. We have our own "big" electro acts - Presets, Cut Copy, and a few other up and comings.

Their website has a brand new song for free download!

http://www.omd.uk.com/downloads/

A rather poppy affair that sounds a lot like something from the Sugar Tax/Liberator era, but since its a demo maybe it will be fleshed out more for the album.

Let's hope so as it's a bit of a disappointment otherwise.
The DVD with the Liverpool Philly orch looks good tho ..

Erm, it sounds horribly dated (I think it was recorded a couple of years ago, but could have been released 15 years ago...and wouldn't have done anything then IMO)

...if the new album sounds like old OMD , then the following noise after its release , will be it falling over dead on its arse from lack of sales - the same problem as HL will have , even if they picked up 3000 fans on the webistes - which they dont , they`ll still need to unload a squillion more to break even - either for themselves or the record company .

If there is one thing that makes me sigh , its old fans wanting to recreate their youth by wanting for the band to retread the ground they walked on 30 years ago . Bring in a classic elements if the band want to but they need to sound contemporary to sell in any numbers (which doesnt mean sound like "chart music") . Nothing wrong with people wanting it , but personally I want to see bands progress , not stand still for the sake of nostalgia .
