Will check your list - I'm totally blank on what it can or can't, as I'm currently just learning the basics. The "kill app" + "uninstaller" should be basics, in my opinion!

If you're running Android 2.2, there's not really any need for an app killer: the OS handles it all for you.

My hint would be...don't install apps unless it's something really useful...then you don't have to kill them ;)
We'll always be together...however far it seems...

For those of you who like me run a basic (free) anti-virus software (AVG), there's another useful piece of software called Rapport from Trusteer. It helps to protect you from entering passwords on fake sites.

IE9 seems to have problems: it doesn't support Adobe Flash Player and attempting to printing web pages returns an error message. It's best to stick with IE8 for now.

Hello geeks
I don't have itunes and don't particularly want to use it long term, but I've been given a gift voucher that I'd like to use.

If I download itunes and use the voucher to buy music, can I extract those songs to my computer or onto a CD, then delete it? Or can I only ever listen to them on itunes?

Any help greatly appreciated :)

It will only save it to itunes but you can then burn it to cd and then delete iTunes.

I've just posted a tech piece on "how Spotify works" at:

http://pansentient.com/2011/04/spotify-technology-some-stats-and-how-spotify-works/

Of course, spot the obligatory Human League mention (I try to work them into my non-synthpop posts, just to ya know, keep the zeitgeist going. I also did some work for Spotify recently, so just had to add some Human League links in the examples there too)

Delighted to say that I received a brand new Toshiba C660 laptop, from my Dad via courier. Have been using it for most of today getting used to the quirky Windows 7... seems a better system (than XP) but not what I'm used to.

Now that my old laptop has expired I'm faced with the choice of getting another laptop or a tablet. Any view out there on this matter?

It's a matter of taste and what you actually use it for. Personally I prefer a laptop - tablets are just for show-off, in my opinion - not good as an actual working tool, but you look hip on the train finger-scrolling around on youtube! ;-)

Anyway - Google "laptop vs tablet" and you'll see loads of discussion sites, like this one: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/tablet-pc-vs-laptop-think-before-you-buy.html

Thanks for the input, you confirmed what I suspected. Trouble is I'm a sucker for new technology so I may be really stupid and get both.

Does anyone know if Microsoft sorted these problems out? I'd like to upgrade but the last time I tried IE9 I lost a lot of history when I went back to IE8.

The above problem appears to be sorted.

Does anyone have any suggestions to stop my grandchildren form destroying laptops? Apart from shooting their mother that is.

Wedlock collar with proximity sensor. See the movie "Wedlock" with Rutger Hauer.

Strange my computer has just decided not to print anything from XL spreadsheets, everything else prints fine? What the f***, I haven't changed any settings, honest! Course microsoft did update windows 7 recently and I do use an older version of XL. Could it be that they are trying to persuade me to purchase a newer version?

I want to make a cd cover and I'm looking for sites to upload artwork etc to for the cover to be printed. Finding it difficult to find places that do this. There's places like MixPixie but you have to buy the music from them. Anyone able to help?

c15 there are sites that seem to have the official artwork. You'll have to wait while I ask a friend for the web addresses.

What site would you recommend for recording audio off Youtube?

Audacity any good? Looks complicated. For me anyway. :)

I've recommended this before, but the plug-in for Firefox called 'Download helper' is simply fantastic - it'll detect any audio/video source on the site you are visiting. It will even tell you in which qualities/filetypes you can get them in. Mostly you'll get .flv (Flash) files or MP4s that then need to be converted - but you'll find software for that too.

Check this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jGk37BeRRJc
