not true - you can put every stored MP3 on your iPod - depends on the setup, but it is easier to just add them through the iTunes software on your PC (which comes with the iPod).

I got the missus an 80Gb Ipod classic from Amazon. Can't fault the quality, but Itunes is a pain - we put the contents of the mp3 folder from the PC onto it and ended up with about 10Gb worth of hard drive used up 'cos Itunes makes another copy of evrything for its library.

P, I bought a 4Gb iPod nano a little while ago and absolutely love it. It's so thin & light you can carry it around in your pocket and forget its there. The scroll wheel works far better than I thought it would and the screen is gorgeous. At first I thought the 4Gb would be limiting but it holds far more than I thought it would. Currently I have a few albums loaded, some photos, numerous podcasts, 5 episodes of Are You Being Served? and a full length movie (just to see if I could). It still has just under 2 Gb left.

True, things are made simpler if you use iTunes, but using iTunes doesn't mean you must used purchased iTunes music. I keep my whole CD library in iTunes as MP3's. I think I've actually only bought like 5 songs from iTunes. Personally I'd buy this player again in a heartbeat.

I hope that someone can give me some help with converting movies recorded on my digital stills camera from 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9 for viewing on a widescreen (SD) TV.

Is there software such as Nero that can be used to do this? Obviously I can view the movies in widescreen mode on my TV but the picture is stretched. I hope that one of you has the answer :)

Is it worth getting a digital camera with the anti-blur feature? Does it work? If so, I would appreciate your recommendations.

http://www.blinkx.com/

Great video search site, which collects videos from daily motion, youtube, myspace and alot of other places.

Great features to i.e. make a video wall on your site or blog.

Dont be tempted to upgrade your browser to IE8, (free beta upload on MS site) It's a massive drama!! And doesnt render many older (ie. MOST) html based sites properly, (including this one). It might be better for flash and java but just keeps crashing the sites and restarting in compatability mode. Even then it wont display some scripts correctly.
Cheers for f**** my entire PC up Bill G :(

Even with IE7, things tend to freeze etc. I'm using Firefox more and more. Opera isn't that bad either. Still have to try Chrome (Google's own browser).

I'm more or less forced to get new work PC's (home and at the office), and it get's harder and harder to get one with XP - I will do what it takes to avoid Vista!

I'm using Chrome and find it faster than IE, but not all websites work with it yet!

I dont trust Chrome (or rather Google Inc ) that browser is up to something.
Either it is mining all the personal data in your life away or is planting subliminal sales messages.
Google wouldnt create a browser without there being some hidden agenda.

Thankfully my webbook which I do all browsing on now is still on XP/IE6 and works a treat.

Anyone using spotify? It's a super-duper, free, legal jukebox that is incredibly fast and responsive.

Need help! :(

Had major computer problems and had to send my PC back to DELL to get it sorted. Just before I did I backed everything up (at least I think I did) to a Freecom external hardware drive. Got my PC back and all my stuff is gone - itunes (over 8000 songs) and pictures etc. Problem is that I can't seem to extract the stuff I backed up to the external hard drive back on to the PC. Anybody able to help? All my Norton stuff which I also backed up is also gone. :(

I`d plug the external into another PC in case the Dell cant see it properly - I assume the Dell can`t see anything on it at all ? or has the backup software made the backed up data into the form of an image (or proprietary version of that) ie some big files with weird names .

Other than that , you`re fcked .

Think I'm in deep shit. :(

I have all of my itunes library on my ipod itself. So not completely lost. Does anyone know if I download the itunes software and attach my ipod will it erase the tracks that I have on the ipod itself or will it transfer them over? Shitting myself that it will erase the ipod.

It will ask you if you want to update it first. So choose no! You need a free app like iPod Agent or something similar for transferring tunes from your iPod onto your computer. That worked for me. Hope you get it sorted though - I don't know what I would do if I lost everything :(

Ouch!

Can you be more specific about the backup? Did your computer recognise the external drive, and if it did, what does not happen when you try to retrieve the data?

Want an easy way to download streaming music/video?

Just discovered a neat little add-on to Firefox, which allows you to download whatever .flv, mp4, mp3 hiding on a webpage. This means you can locate the HQ music file on i.e. Youtube.

Just tested the bugger on some of the DM remixes on Beatportal, and the extended remix of PSB's The Way It Used To Be, on youtube - works perfectly!

Get this file: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006
- Save it to your desktop - run Firefox, click File, locate the saved file, and run it, and you are ready!
