Most Over Rated (IMO)

Postby SubHuman » Sun Feb 24, 2013 12:58 pm

Feeling slightly bored (not much League related news etc).

Please feel free to nominate anything. Here goes.

IMO the most overrated rock star is Bruce Springstein. A man who's music talent is significantly overmatched by his ego, especially when onstage - did you see him headlining Glastonbury a few years ago.

I nearly nominated Elvis but decided to restrict myself to those still living for this category.

Another one, IMO the most overrated female music performer is Beyonce. An artist who's singling talents are significantly overmatched by the hype surrounding her.

IMO the most overrated historical figure is Napoleon. A military dictator who point the way for Adolf Hitler, Stalin, Ide Amin, and Saddam Hussein.

Etc, over to you.

An easy one for me - The Beatles.

Yeah they were great in their day and yeah they have some great tunes but, the greatest band in the world ever? Nah. Not in my book. Sick of just about every band citing them as an inspiration. They never did it for me.

U2.

And in terms of Aussie music, Cold Chisel (who? Exactly!) And AC/DC. Rock shite.
Well who's that shouting? John, ex-Moderator - all he ever gives us is pain!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion BUT I think they are underrated as song writers. The only album that let them down in their 13 album career was 'No Line On The Horizon' which was pretty bad. Both 'Zooropa' & 'Pop' are two of my favourite albums ever.

Paul McCartney. (Not Lennon & McCartney/Beatles/etc - just McCartney solo or as Wings or whatever).

IMO the most overrated New Romantic band was Duran Duran. Clearly manufactured to appeal to sub-teenage girls.

I did try to think of something connected with the Human League but couldn't.

Is this really an overrated class or just normal business?

Most overrated scientist IMO Enstein. His immense achievements in theoretical physics are hideously overshadowed by their consequences: nuclear waste and a button that some idiot could press to end the world as we know it.

Cold Chisel sounds very macho, I'm assuming there heavy rock, three guitars and drums.

Yup, that very guy.

I don't mind him, i like his 80s pop stuff, and don't mind some of his older stuff, but the hype is AAARGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Like Depeche Mode..... it doesn't matter what they put out, the die hards won't hear a word said against them, the hype is HUGE, but, come on.........

Not heavy, just middle of the road glorified pub band rock shite - yes on the guitars and drums part though.

You obviously mean 1990's Violator and earlier. Odd to think their last tune was 23 years ago but when bands write shit albums they tour...... lots! U2, Killers, Coldplay etc
