Right - a question:

The admin on the DM board hates rumours and speculations - meaning that if ANYONE mentions a DM rumour, they get banned. Now that Dave Gahan is recording new solo stuff, someone have started a thread called "predictions" - I sort of know the difference between 'predictions' and 'speculations', but aren't they the same in that context of assuming which musically directions DG's heading?

Anyone? :/

I think was the right decision to make towards snooker player Ronnie O'Sullivan, totally inexcusible his walking out of a snooker match just because he had made a bad shot.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snooker/6709043.stm

Does anyone think this was adequate, too harsh or not enough to make him think twice about doing the same again???

I'll reply to both those above posts -

I think Ronnie O'Sullivan was right to be fined too; if Lewis Hamilton (GO LEWIS GO!) decides halfway through a Grand Prix that he's not doing well, he wouldn't just give up and pull off the circuit for a crafty smoke behind the pits. For someone with his talent, Ronnie should have been able to use the pressure to help him fight back, that's the sign of a good sportsman.

As for the DM forum, that sounds very harsh Stig - that would mean I would get barred for just asking a question. Prediction/speculation/rumour/guessing/asking is all in the same boat if you ask me, and should be encouraged not suppressed. Sometimes fans can assist a band with their feedback...

That said, all the DM fans wishing to predict can always post here as we're nice and friendly :)

Just seen the new 'Olympics 2012' logo (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6719805.stm) and I can see what all the fuss is about. Here we go again in this country cocking things up once more. 'A distorted swastika' certainly seems the best derogatory description however if you squint a bit I guess you can just about make out the appropriate digits but it all seems rather amature and childish to me. Do they seriously believe that we will really 'grow to love it' over the next five years! I remain to convinced on that! :/

I want nothing to do with all this Olympics nonsense but I must say, the logo is bl00min stupid! :/ It's almost impossible to see it says 2012 (I saw it about 50 times before I realised what it was) I could have done a better job of it!

Ronnie O'Sullivan was wrong to be fined. He can decide when enough is enough, forfeit the game etc. I agree it's not really good sporting conduct but plenty of other frames/games go the same way when there is still a chance of fighting back and nothing gets said.

McLaren decided that Lewis Hamilton was not going to win. Hamilton should be a proper sportsman and not just give in to team instructions and that does deserve more investigation!

DM forum - I'm sure it does some good for some people but what good is a forum if it doesn't generate discussion?? Fact, fiction, rumour or otherwise it still contributes to healthy dicussion.

Olympics - Now the logo has been pointed out to me I can see the 2012 thing, just. It's not a strong logo by any means but just something else to bash the committee with. I for one am happy that the UK and London will host the games but I somehow wish we didn't have it. All this negativity just stereotypes us more with johnny foreigner - Nation of Whingers. They have a point.

Alison moyet slags off DuranDuran!!!

As for Duran Duran... Tossers! ha ha. They were very ill mannered back in the day when we were Yazoo. Jumped up beer boys in lipstick. Interestingly enough, I saw an interview with Vince when he was asked what he'd send into room 101...and they were it. It made me smile...we had this in common and I wondered if he remembered that day abroad doing a TV show.

A little ray of hope for Yazoo fans:

I would love to sing Yazoo again at some point before it is too late...but those songs cannot be without Vince's electronica. Maybe something will facilitate that.........

That would be very cool indeed - perhaps if Vince made the electronics a bit darker...

Paris Hilton has been released from prison after only 3 days due to 'illness' & has been 'reassigned' to her home with an electronic tagging device which she must wear for 40 days.

If you have enough money you can get away with anything. :(

I bet she's having trouble getting the tagging device to co-ordinate with her Versace handbag ;)

Agh! Agh! Agh! Agh! Agh! Agh!

*Edit- that was a link to the yahoo news page where there was big news about North Korea setting off a nuclear bomb on the moon. V. scary-HOWEVER it's a hoax (hacker?) and they've replaced it with the normal news now. Gave me a shock!

how many of us...

a) have more than one internet window open at any one time

b) occasionally hover around as a 'guest' before logging in

I have to admit that I'm certainly guilty of the first (usually about five or six, toggling between each one) and quite a few times the second.

I've always got 2 internet windows open, but I never hover as a guest. I stay signed in at work and at home, as I'm too lazy to keep logging in and out everytime!

I'm set up to being kept logged on, but I do shut down browsers if I'm busy doing something else and don't want to be distracted!

Unfortunately, I've found an online Scrabble website, so it's really difficult not to log on to that and play a few games
